A week of prayer for Christian Unity Amongst Injustice- 18th to the 25th January 2023

Occurring
for 13 days, 45 mins
Venue
St Luke's
Address
St. Luke's Church Chester Road Huntington Chester, CH3 6BT, United Kingdom

For this Week of Prayer for Christian Unity we are guided by the churches of Minneapolis as we seek to explore how the work of Christian unity can contribute to the promotion of racial justice across all levels of society. Through the resource attached, written by Churches Together in Britain and Ireland (CTBI), they have focussed our attention on the 30th anniversary of the murder of Stephen Lawrence, which we mark in 2023. The work of restoring hope through justice undertaken in Stephen’s memory continues to inspire and change lives for the better.

As we join with other Christians around the world for the Week of Prayer, we pray that our hearts will be open to see and hear the many ways in which racism continues to destroy lives, and to discern the steps we can take as individuals and communities to heal the hurts and build a better future for everyone.

To help you pray for Unity amidst Injustice, please use the resources attached within the pamphlet.

We will be holding a special service in St Luke's for Christian Unity on Sunday 22nd January @ 10.30.

St Luke's

St Luke's Church serves the areas of Boughton, Vicar's Cross and Huntington in the City of Chester. We are a friendly church made up of people of all ages who worship, work and serve together to share the good news of Jesus to those we meet. Our church is as busy through the week as it is on a Sunday morning through the work of our popular Community Cafe. We love to welcome visitors both to our services and to our cafe, so whether you want to worship with us or eat some fabulous cake, all are very welcome.

Our Sunday services have a relaxed atmosphere and normally have live music led by our band. Children are welcome both in our services and in our groups for primary aged children and young people. We welcome everyone from those with questions about faith to those who have been following Jesus for their whole lives; we journey in our faith together.
