About Us
St Bartholomew’s Church, BarrowThe congregation and the rector offer everyone a warm welcome to St Bartholomew’s Church. We are fortunate to meet in a beautiful building with wonderful views across the countryside; an excellent place to meet together, reflect and pray. There are two services on Sundays, as well as other services and opportunities to explore and learn about the Christian Faith.
8.45am Holy CommunionThis is a quiet, reflective service with no music held every Sunday Morning. We use contemporary language prayers, except on the second Sunday of each month when we use traditional language prayers. The service lasts around 45 minutes.
10am - Our main serviceOur main Sunday services are when the majority of church members gather together to pray and worship God. Through the month the type of service we have changes, but there is always a warm welcome and refreshments after the service.
The first Sunday of each month is our All-In Service where everyone, young and old, gathers together for an informal service lasting around 45 minutes.
On second and fourth Sundays in the month, we celebrate Holy Communion using contemporary language prayers, lasting just over an hour.
On the third and fifth Sundays, we have our Morning Worship service which is a blend of prayers, psalms and hymns using contemporary language prayers lasting around an hour.
On Sundays during term times, except on a first Sunday, our children’s groups, Jellybeans and Jellytots meet alongside the main service in the Millennium Rooms.
Other services and eventsWe meet for coffee and a chat every Wednesday in the Millennium Rooms at 10am and a monthly men’s breakfast is held at the social club. We also have a number of special services in the afternoon or evening during the course of the year, including the Christingle Service and our Annual Memorial Service for those who have lost loved ones. Details of all of these services are recorded in Barrow News.
Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals are held by arrangement with the Rector.
