A quiet Victorian gem set away from Thornthwaite village at the end of a country lane. Worth a visit. Look for the 'mice'. Peaceful graveyard adjoining with views across Bassenthwaite Lake (the only lake in the Lake District! Daughter Church (St. Herbert's) in nearby Braithwaite (approx. 1 mile)

Services are held at St. Mary's on the second Sunday,St. Herbert's, Braithwaite on the 1st, 3rd & 5th Sundays and at Newlands on 4th Sunday in the month usually at 10.15 a.m..
