Wythburn

Wythburn Church is the ancient parish church of Thirlmere. The bulk of hte parish was flooded by the Manchester Water Corporation when the Thirlmere Reservoir was created.

There is no electricity or gas - so the church is cold in winter!

The parish was then combined with St John's in the Vale. The church is used for worship in the summer months and for Candlemas - they are either lit by natural light or candlelight.

Safeguarding

"Our parish of Keswick: St John is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of Carlisle’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO Rev Canon Susi Wood [email protected] or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor Joanna van Lechterop
[email protected] ( 07458 0168840). If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services."
