It was good to welcome people from several churches in the Mission Community  to a talk by Anne Hayward, "On Pilgrimage in Cumbria and Beyond".

Her lively and wide-ranging talk gave us insight into her reasons for undertaking pilgrimage, highlights of her journeys and the practicalities of walks lasting for several weeks. 

We already have routes between the Western Lake District churches, described in Jackie Oakes' book (available locally) , but the talk gave us all ideas for how pilgrimage could become something which we continue to develop perhaps across a bigger area. It is certainly something we will consider at St John's as we interpret our building and look to develop the Old Laundry.
