A chip in the sugar tells the story of Graham
– a middle-aged man who lives with his mother. Their comfortable existence is shaken to the core when Graham’s mother meets an old flame who proposes marriage.

A bed among the lentils, in which we meet Susan – an alcoholic Vicar’s wife who, through escaping her insensitive husband and her debts at the local off-licence, begins an affair with an Indian grocer.

Many of you will remember Rev. Sandy Lofthouse, who frequently preached at Crosscrake when Terry moved away. Sandy’s son John was married in our church and was a well-known baritone singer in the area until he moved south. He has generously offered to bring his production of two of Alan Bennett’s ‘Talking Heads’ for our entertainment. This production has been very popular at venues in the south of England and comes highly recommended. Tickets are available now from churchwardens Mike or Marlene - email [email protected]
Tickets also available on the day.

St. Thomas' (Crosscrake)

A warm welcome to St Thomas’ Church, in the parish of Crosscrake, near Kendal, Cumbria.

We are an inclusive and welcoming church; a community that cares for all, both near and far.

‘Our aim is to be a true family of God; living, worshipping, and working in what we know is a difficult and demanding world. We will be open and outward looking, growing in faith, using the talents of our members, radiating our witness to Christ, meeting Him in our neighbours, giving and receiving the love of God.’
Parish Mission Statement

We are always delighted to welcome new friends and visitors, whether this is to a service of worship, special events, or just to enjoy a few moments of peace and reflection in our lovely country church.
