The coffee morning and cake sale at Crosscrake to support Christian Aid week 2022 raised £755 for the cause. As you can see from the photo, a beautiful array of cakes were on offer and a ‘Guess the weight of the cake’ competition brought in a wide range of guesses. Thanks to all those who took part and gave so generously to the cause.Christian Aid week 2022 aims to help families in Zimbabwe battling drought and poverty. The Palm Sunday service took place this morning at Crosscrake Church with a very special visit from Winston the Donkey. Winston, who comes from nearby Raines Hall Farm, the home of the Maize Maze, delighted the congregation as the service, led by Rev. Terry and Rev. Lucy, commenced outside the church with a Palm Sunday reading and distribution of palm crosses, before heading into the church building for the rest of the service.Winston has been a regular Palm Sunday guest at the church for many years and we were very pleased to see him again today and grateful to the family at Raines Hall for bringing him along. He seemed to enjoy his visit, basking in the glorious Cumbrian sunshine and chewing on some tasty Crosscrake grass, but he was unavailable to comment personally, mainly due to the fact he is a donkey. Thanks to everyone who attended (Winston included) for making it such a special Palm Sunday service.
