Palm Sunday in Kirkoswald saw the arrival of a donkey and a local congregation for the annual Palm Sunday village walk from the Methodist Chapel to St Oswald’s Church.This reminds us of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem on a donkey as a public display of his identity as the Messiah and King, met with cheers and praise from the crowds.The services on Palm Sunday were led by Revd Fiona Jenkins and Revd Dave Milner.
Meet Croglin village and parking near the church in the street. 11am. Usual good footwear, rainwear and food and drink. A climb up to the ridge and along to Newbiggin and back via fields and lanes. 4 miles approx.All are welcome, including children and dogs supervised by adults. Ash Wednesday (March 5th) marks the beginning of Lent, a season remembering Jesus Christ’s time spent in the wilderness as he contemplated the future direction of his life and ministry. In the few weeks leading up to Easter Day when Christians celebrate Jesus’ death and resurrection, can be for us and you too, a time to reflect on the place you are in in your life now and the direction you’re going.
