For those for whom this would be problematic, please take a seat in church and palms will be given to you at the start of the service.

Maundy Thursday Sung Eucharist & Watch of the Passion

A sung Eucharist to celebrate the institution of the Lord’s Supper. At the end of this service the altar is stripped, the sacrament is placed on an altar of repose in the side chapel and remains there for silent prayer. Stay as long as you wish. Pop in for a while even if you are unable to attend the service beforehand. The watch finishes at 9.30 and is followed by a short service of Compline.

In the monastic tradition we conclude Maundy Thursday with a simple said service of Compline or Night Prayer.

Stations of the Cross

A moving service of short meditations, scripture readings and prayers interspersed with verses from appropriate hymns. A reader processes round the 14 traditional ‘stations’ or events in our Lord’s passion and death. Congregation members are invited to walk round or to sit or stand and follow the service in a printed booklet. Before you leave, please visit the 15th Station in the side chapel, to recollect that Good Friday was not the end.

Sung Eucharist for Easter Day

Celebrating the empty tomb and the resurrection of Jesus, this sung Eucharist will include the restrained use of incense and will conclude with an Easter egg hunt (not just for the children!)
