Facilities and features

A single accessible toilet is located at the back of the church building near the coffee counter and additional ladies and gents are available upstairs above the church hall.
Limited parking available on the gravelled area around the building. Disc parking available in surrounding residential streets. Please check time limits when you park.
At back of church building
Main entrance to church is on Warwick Road and is gently sloped up towards the church door from the public footpath.
Assistance and companion dogs welcome.
The entrance on Warwick Road is via a shallow ramped pavement. We have no pews just chairs which are not fixed. There is access to the high altar rail via a sloping carpeted floor behind the organ. If you would rather receive communion in your place let one of the helpers know and the sacrament can be brought to you.
Our Building
The windows reflect the life of Jesus and the saints, in particular saints Aidan, Hilda, Oswald, Nicholas, Peter, Thomas, Elizabeth, Bega, Agatha, Catherine and the poet Caedmon. The east window reflects the words of the Te Deum. The original Sunday School area has a window representing Jesus welcoming children.
The church is grade 2 listed.
Music and Worship
We have two differently tuned bells at the west end of the church and a large single bell to the side of the nave, used during services. If you would like the bells rung at your wedding please discuss this with us in advance as part of your planning.
St Aidans is home to the Border Concert Band who practice in the church and give concerts. We have comfortable seating on individual chairs rather than pews and can seat 300. The acoustics are excellent plus we have a good upright piano to accompany singing.
We have a two manual Harrison and Harrison tracker action pipe organ, which despite two floods is still able to produce some magnificent sounds.
