Lanercost Priory
The Priory Church of St Mary Magdalene is our parish church. It occupies what was the original nave of Lanercost Priory, an Augustinian monastery founded in 1169 and which has witnessed a wild and turbulent past.
It is an Anglican church and regular services are still held in the Priory, as they have been for almost 850 years.
The Priory lies in North Cumbria, a stone's throw from Hadrian's Wall and set in beautiful countryside. It is at the heart of a small but vibrant rural community.
We love to welcome visitors, please join us at one of our services or just come at any time to soak up the atmosphere of this special place where prayers have been said for over 850 years.
