This evening’s Service of Shadows led by Paul Smith, marked the events of the day Jesus was crucified. A tradition that dates back to the ninth century, the service was lit by candles with a series of readings that told the story of Jesus' final moments. Increasing darkness was achieved by gradually extinguishing candles. The service allowed time for quiet reflection and meditation on the events leading up to the crucifixion and the darkness of that time.
