Spring is here and we are organising a Rogation Day Walk from Newtown Village Hall to Walton churchyard on Monday 10th May. The walk will start from Newtown village hall, where there is plenty of parking, at 11 a.m.The walk is along the Hadrian's Wall Path and is almost exclusively through farmland. There are only slight inclines and a few uneven steps. For the most part the walk is on even ground. There are some beautiful views along the way. Cam Beck Weir is a particularly lovely spot. Dogs are welcome but will need to be kept on a lead most of the time. There is livestock in most of the fields. There will be a short Rogation Day service in Walton churchyard at 12 noon. This will be followed by a bring-your-own picnic. We will then make our way back to Newtown. The walk is approximately 45 minutes each way.We are very grateful that toilet facilities will be available to us both at Newtown Village Hall and at the Old Vicarage Micro Brewery at Walton, next to Walton churchyard. Please let us know if you are planning to come. Email Fi on stmartinsvicarage@gmail.comSocial distancing will be observed throughout. A full risk assessment is being carried out.
