Remember there is a special service a week tomorrow on Sunday 4th August 10.30am at Farlam Church (which is in Kirkhouse not Farlam!). This is a Three Rivers Mission Community service and is a celebration of the Feast of Lammas - an ancient festival of the Anglo-Saxon Church associated with the first offerings of the harvest. It falls halfway between the summer solstice and the autumn equinox, and the practice was to offer a freshly baked loaf for communion. Lammas = loaf-mass. So we will be celebrating communion with the delicious smell of freshly baked bread! All welcome.
