About Us
Sunday services are normally on the 1st Sunday at 2.30pm and the 3rd Sunday at 11.00am.
Stainmore is a quite distinct community from Brough being some 4 miles away up in the hills. It is largely scattered homes but has a strong sense of community, shown, for example in the well-attended monthly coffee morning (1st Saturday of each month 10.30am-12noon in the church). The two congregations are also distinct apart from occasional united services, but both are part of the new benefice (group of parishes) with Kirkby Stephen.
St Stephen's, Stainmore is a friendly little congregation which welcomes newcomers (including well-behaved dogs!). It also provides refreshments after the service – more than just biscuits!
With views of the beautiful hills over as far as the Lake District Fells, the church has a peaceful, healing atmosphere.
