St Mary the Virgin Newington

Welcome to St Mary's Newington!

We are the local parish church for Newington village and are part of The Six benefice, a group of six rural parishes situated between the urban centres of Rainham and Sittingbourne. Our beautiful ancient church building lies to the north side of the village. We endeavour to ensure the church building is open during the week during daylight hours.

We hope that you will find a home here in our congregations. We offer different 'flavours' of service each week. Informal Morning Worship services, suitable for all ages are held on the first & third Sundays. There are two Communion services a month; a more 'traditional' service on the 2nd Sunday and a more informal service on the 4th Sunday. Everyone is welcome. Refreshments are served after each service.

We want to see the building used to serve events in the wider community. Each month the Cornerstone Cafe (a community cafe) takes place on the 3rd Thursday of each month. As the people we want to bless our village, serving where possible in partnership with others in the village community.

Please do leave a message here, in case you wish for any further information.

St Mary the Virgin Newington is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Canterbury’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services."
