Daily Scripture“In your book were written all the days that were formed for me, when none of them as yet existed.” (Psalm 139 v16)Daily ReflectionHow well do you know yourself? Pretty well, you might say. But “pretty well” doesn’t come near to the way in which God knows you! Psalm 139 tells us that God knew you before you were conceived – what colour your eyes would be, how many hairs you would have on your head…. Imagine a God who, because he loved you so much, is interested in those tiny details about you. Not only that, but imagine a God who, because he loves you so much, has taken great care to know every detail of your life, down to the day that you will meet Him in person. God gives you free choice to live your life as you wish - to live unaware of His love for you, or to live in the centre of His love – the one who carries all your days in his heart.Vicki Young
Daily ScriptureOur soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowler; the snare is broken and we are delivered. Our help is in the name of the Lord, who has made heaven and earth. (Psalm 124:7)Daily Reflection It is all too easy to feel overwhelmed by problems in life; to feel trapped by them, with no apparent way out. With God there is always a way out; God created everything; there is nothing beyond his ability to solve. We may see something as hopeless; but God can work things that we deem impossible. The Psalmist speaks of a bird trapped in a snare – death is certain; but the snare is broken and the bird freed. Impossible for the bird to do, but there is escape for the bird. For us, God can provide a way out of the things that trap us; all we have to do is believe in him; trust him; and look to him…..”Our help is in the name of the Lord.”Revd David
Daily ScriptureWhen Jacob awoke from his sleep he thought ‘Surely the Lord is in this place and I was not aware of it.... This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven. Genesis 28.16,17Daily ReflectionJacob is in a bad place, running from his conflict-ridden past towards an uncertain future. Exhausted, he lies down to rest in a random, insignificant spot, and there, in the famous dream of a ladder connecting earth and heaven, he encounters God. Not an angry God, reproaching Jacob for his misdeeds, but a God who comes to meet him in his need, giving him hope for the future and the promise of a new life. When he awakes Jacob is overwhelmed to realise that in this unlikely place he has been in the presence of God. He has glimpsed heaven. And he is a changed man.God, ‘within no walls confined’ still comes to meet us in the least expected places. ‘Where’er we seek him He is found, and every place is hallowed ground’.Revd Rosemary
