I lift up my eyes to the hills-

From where will my help come?

My help comes from the Lord,

Who made heaven and earth. (Psalm 121)

Daily Reflection

Have you ever stood at the top of a hill or mountain, looked around and had that feeling of complete awe and wonder at the beauty of God’s creation? This is what the psalmist is expressing in his song to the Lord; not only that - but also acknowledging that his strength comes from looking around and reminding himself that God’s presence is with him. It is one of the foundations of the Christian belief that God is everywhere but we sometimes forget that and are constantly asking for God’s presence in our prayers when all the time he is already here amongst us. Nothing we or the psalmist could do would make God more present; all we need to do is look around us and remember.
