Daily Scripture
“For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of yourself more highly than you ought to think, but to think with sober judgement, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.” (Romans 12:3)
Daily Reflection
Some of us go through life with an over-estimated sense of our own importance. Some of us do not have very high self-esteem at all. Both are wrong; both are evaluating ourselves by worldly standards, which isn’t a great measure to use. To know your true importance in life you should know the basis of your self-worth: Christ died for you; that is how important you are.
Without Christ we aren’t capable of much by eternal standards. With Christ you are valuable; you can know you are loved; and you are capable of worthy service for God. When you are having a bad day, remember that. Have faith; trust God; you are of infinite worth… whatever you think the world thinks of you. But by earthly standards, please, “do not think of yourself more highly than you ought”!
