Daily Scripture
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3.9)
Daily Reflection
Most of us have things in our lives we know we should put right but keep putting off. Are there people we have wronged or who have wronged us? What are we doing to heal the breach? Have we ‘fences to mend’ with family or neighbours? Things in our lives that are seriously in need of reappraisal? In the service of Compline we pray that God will grant us ‘time for repentance and amendment of life, and the gift of the Holy Spirit’: that is, time to sort things out, get back on track and in the power of the Holy Spirit to live our lives free from all these unnecessary worries. God is very patient, but that is no reason to delay. No time like the present!
