The Invicta Wind Orchestra is a group of nearly 50 woodwind, brass and percussion players – effectively a large military band, or perhaps an orchestra with saxophones and extra clarinets instead of strings!

Formed in 1989 the musicians travel from across the southeast for a day of music making, culminating in an entertaining
concert. Many members of the band have played in Kent’s excellent youth music

groups. There is an age range of over 60 years amongst band members, with talented new recruits alongside leading local amateur musicians, music teachers and former military bandsmen.

This celebration of 80 years of peace will include military marches representing the three services (including Colonel Bogey), film music (including some by Richard Rodgers), popular music of the period by Ivor Novello and Glenn Miller, and an opportunity for reflection in Martin Ellerby’s Dona Nobis Pacem. And there will be the chance to join in some popular songs of the era, all rounded off by “Horseguard’s Whitehall” – the Down Your Way theme.

All are welcome, a rousing concert in St. Nicholas Church starting at 7pm prompt this musical Celebration is served up with refreshments in the interval and will finish at 9pm. Tickets will be available on the door at £15 each and under 18’s will be admitted free.
