Daily Scripture:
Though I am poor and needy, the Lord cares for me. You are my helper and my deliverer; O my God, make no delay. (Psalm 40:18-19)
Daily Reflection:
I guess not many of us would put ourselves in the category of being poor and of being needy. If we consider the psalmist’s words from a purely material point of view, the vast majority of us would be right. However, if we consider these words from a spiritual point of view……. we are all poor, we are all needy; and yet, the Lord cares about you. He is your helper and deliverer. He is waiting - patiently - for the day when you will recognise Him for who He is. The verse before these the psalmist says, “Let all who seek you rejoice in you and be glad; let those who love your salvation say always, ‘The Lord is great.’”
May we recognise that there is something bigger than us. That there is God. May we then confess that we are poor and needy, and know that God cares; He is my helper.
