Scripture:

'Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. All these are activated by one and the same Spirit, who allots to each one individually just as the Spirit chooses.'  (1 Corinthians 12 4-7 & 11)

Reflection:

Competition to be the best is generally celebrated with honours, prizes, medals or trophies which starts at school and continues throughout our lives. This has the effect of leaving those whose contributions are not quite up to scratch feeling underrated and seen as a failure.

Whoever we are, wherever we come from, we are all blessed with gifts that enable us to help all humanity to work together for the common good. Each and every one of us has a different ability and we all have something special to bring to the table. Each contribution that we make to our family life, our community life & our church life is to be equally honoured, celebrated and developed to bless and transform the world. So let us help everyone to nurture their God given gifts.
