FOSL was formed over eleven years ago by a group of non-church going people who wanted to help tell the stories of 900 years of Deal's history which is contained within the walls of this church.  They also wanted to help preserve the historic artefacts in the church and the church itself.

Over the last decade FOSL has raised almost £40,000 towards the restoration of the 'hatchments' and other art work in the church.  It has also helped to protect some of the oldest architectural features in the church.  

Members of the Friends have also carried out much research into the history of the church and the people associated with it over the years and hold regular exhibitions.  They have also produced two guides to the church and the hatchments.
