About Us
St. Leonard's in Upper Deal is located on Rectory Road and is part of the Parish of Upper Deal and Great Mongeham.
Services and service times may be found in the What's On? news sheet that is uploaded to this site weekly. Coffee and biscuits are served after the service. We look forward to welcoming you.
There has been a church on the current site since at least 1180. Although the town's development over the years has left St Leonards standing on the outskirts, it still remains the Parish Church for Upper Deal.
It is now part of a a parish of four churches
The present building is a cocktail of various architectural styles and includes important features from many, dating back as far as 1180. It has indeed developed in a manner which lead one Bishop to call it "The most cockeyed church in Christendom" It is well worth a visit to discover exactly what he meant!
We are always grateful for all donations towards the upkeep of this historical building.
