All Souls Church
The parish church of All Souls was consecrated by Archbishop Benson on 3rd January 1895. The dedication had been inspired by the desire of the vicar at the time, Rev R E Johnstone to help the population of Cheriton Street to grow into a community, the Church helping "all souls" to realise the love of God.

A Church has stood on the hillside at the top of Horn Street for over 1000 years. The churchyard contains the grave of Samuel Plimsoll, a Liberal MP for Derby, who is world renowned for creating the 'Plimsoll Line' on ships and saved the lives of many seamen, and earned him the nickname 'The Sailor's Friend'.
