Getting here
Bishopsbourne's main claim to fame is that Richard Hooker was the Rector here from 1595 - 1600. Hooker, one of the fathers of Anglicanism, is known for his 8-volume 'Laws of Ecclesiastical Polity'. The church also boasts mediaeval wall paintings, a Burne-Jones stained glass window, and William Morris design tiles around the chancel walls. Bishopsbourne is now in a group of churches, along with Barham, Kingston, Womenswold and Adisham.
