St Thomas à Becket
Our parish church is St Thomas à Becket in Church Lane, but we also have occasional services in the small and delightful medieval building at Chapel Plaister. We hope that you will find St Thomas a Becket to be a warm and friendly community where you can come and be yourself. We meet regularly on a Sunday at 10.30am - sometimes there is a group service or we link up with Box Methodist Church, check the whats on pages below.
We also have other activities for children and families:
Heart - 2nd Sunday of the month at 4pm, Dandelion Cafe Leafy Lane, Rudloe
Grace - 2nd Wednesday of the month 3.30pm at Box Methodist Church
There is also an Evensong on the 2nd Sunday, 6pm at the Pilgrims Chapel in Chapel Plaister.
The parish of Box is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer, PSO, who can be contacted via [email protected]. The Diocese of Bristol’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. That is best done by clicking this link Safeguarding - Diocese of Bristol (anglican.org) or by emailing [email protected]. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.

Chapel Plaister
The Pilgrims’ Chapel at Chapel Plaister is a tiny, but unique part of our national heritage. It dates back to the 13th Century and stands beside what in previous times, was the principal route to the south west. This chapel is one of the few remaining examples of road side havens, which would have provided shelter and a place of worship to pilgrims journeying to Glastonbury.
The parish of Box, of which Chapel Plaister is part, is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults.
Regular services at Chapel Plaister are currently suspended, pending the appointment to the benefice of a new Priest-in-Charge.
The chapel is open for visitors on Wednesdays between 2 and 4pm in the summer months (May - September).
More info on the chapel can be found at Visit Wiltshire and Historic England.
