St Mary’s Church is situated in Church Close next to the Village Hall and is in the parish of Henbury. The parish includes the districts of Henbury, Brentry and Hallen as well as the Blaise Castle estate and the Mall shopping centre at Cribbs Causeway. Our Vicar is Revd David Lloyd.
On the outside, St Mary’s looks like a typical picture postcard parish church. On the inside you will find that we have removed some of the pews to create a platform and a more welcoming entrance. Our worship is enhanced by our lively Director of Music, James Baker, and our singing group.
We would be delighted to welcome you to one of our Sunday services which are:
8.30am Holy Communion (Book of Common Prayer)
10.00am Family Communion
11.30am Healing Service (4th Sunday of the month)
7.30pm Taize Service - (tba)
During term-time, the Junior Church meets in the Village Hall during the 10.00am service, joining the rest of the congregation in the church building for communion and the last song. We also have a children’s corner in church for younger children who wish to stay with their parents. Occasionally we have an All-Age Service in the church, with more child friendly worship and activities related to the theme of the service dotted around the building.
After the 10.00am service people gather in the Village Hall for coffee, biscuits and chat. Sometimes we have Sunday lunches, either bring & share or provided by the Mothers’ Union.
We also use the Village Hall for our Christmas Fair, social events and Messy Church. On the Bank Holiday Mondays at the end of May and August the church is open for visitors and tea & home-made cakes are served in the Village Hall garden.
On the first Friday of the month we host a Coffee Morning in Henbury Village Hall from 10.00am - 12 noon where fresh coffee and delicious home made cakes are served for just £1.
