Are you new to the community?

I AM NEW

Perhaps you’ve just moved into the area or are visiting and are looking to see what’s going on in the community? Have you been living here for some time but are new to Holy Trinity? Have you been coming to church for a while but would like to meet some new people? Or maybe you’re looking to see what is happening in order to get involved in something new?

AT HOLY TRINITY

You will find a community of ordinary people on a journey together – people like everyone else, experiencing the joys and pressures of life today as we try to live out an ancient faith in a 21st century city: shared stories of our past, the reality of the present and the dreams for the future finding a home in a living faith community. We each have a story to share, a story of our lives and of God’s impact on them. We each have a faith in Jesus that we try to connect with our everyday lives. Our vision is that in sharing our story, by living our lives with God and growing in our faith, each person and our whole community may genuinely deepen their relationship with God.

We believe in a church which aspires to welcome all as you are to find God, no matter your economic position, marital status, age, gender, race, physical ability, mental health or sexuality. From listening to the experiences of others, including LGBTI+ people, we know that many are understandably unsure of the welcome they will receive in a new church.

We know that some Christians search for ‘Inclusive Church’ membership before visiting a parish church. We also recognise that other people who are exploring the Christian faith may be unsure of how they would be received upon visiting.

We are not members of any campaigning organisation but we believe that the love of Jesus extends to all and we aim to show this by genuinely welcoming and including all at Holy Trinity. On sexuality, we find the five principles around Inclusion from the Diocese of Oxford helpful: https://blogs.oxford.anglican.org/tag/human-sexuality/

We are all on a journey of faith and recognise that people find themselves on different paths along the way but it is our prayer that, together, we can discover more of God, the love of Jesus and the presence of the Spirit.

Our parish, Hotwells, stretches from Cornwallis Crescent to Cumberland Road (north to south) and from the Jacob's Wells roundabout to the Cumberland Basin (east to west). However, more than one third of our congregation live outside the parish boundaries, and travel to Holy Trinity from other parts of Bristol and North Somerset.

If you’d like to find out more please join us on a Sunday at 10:30am and one of our welcomers will be on hand to answer any questions you might like to ask. If you would like one of our ministers to contact you please email [email protected]
