It was lovely to welcome Ruth Haldane the Warden of Lay Ministry to join us at the 10.45 service last week. Part of her sermon was a call to action. It feels like we have reached another new chapter in the life of St Nicholas Church. The Vicar’s contract is being renewed. Phil, a Licensed Lay Minister, and Karen an Authorised Lay Minister are both on board and fully trained. And we have planning permission to build a Youth Centre in the grounds of the Church. The PCC will shortly be asking each one of us to consider what part we can play in the future of the Church here in Fleetwood. For example, could you visit the sick or offer an afternoon to call in on someone who needs some company? Are you less mobile? Then maybe you could commit to specific prayers for the parish and community. Might you even feel called to undertake some training for an authorised ministry? Please begin to prayerfully consider what it is God might be calling you to contribute to the next chapter as we journey on, in faith together.

Important Notice: We are in the process of decluttering some of the storage space in the Broadway Rooms. Over the years many items have been kindly donated to the church which have never been used or are no longer in use. These items will be on display in the Jubilee Room from this Sunday. If you wish to reclaim anything then please do so. It is our intention to place what is remaining on a Tabletop Sale. The sale will take place on Saturday 23rd July in the hall between 9 am and 1 pm, when we hope to raise some money for the roof. There are leaflets at the back of church to promote this event.

Come Dine with the Vicar – This will be a series of meals at the Vicarage to which you, your friends and family are all invited (8 at a time)! There will be a speaker, sumptuous food and drinks and good company provided. At the end of the evening or lunchtime gathering, you will be invited to make a generous donation towards the roof repairs! Interested?? There’s a sheet at the back of church to annotate your name and indicate how many guests you can bring. Don’t be shy, this is a lovely way to get to know people who you might not otherwise get to spend time with.

100 Club - Winners last week were Linda Cawley, Carole Pilling and Berny McCarthy

Please remember in your prayers – Rev Jane Everitt, Tony and Maureen Hardman, Rev Martin Keighley, Gillian King, Harry Pendlebury, Fiona, and Joy. And also, the families of Elizabeth Baxter, Ted Angus, Maureen Bond, and Edward Helsby whose funerals are due to take place.
