Alpha ReminderOur first session of Alpha starts next Saturday at 10 am. Much prayer and preparation has been going on behind the scenes and we are sincerely grateful to Anne and Ron for the work they have done over several weeks in bringing the Broadway kitchen back to life! Whilst we are looking forward to hosting the course, we are mindful that the Omicron strain of Covid is still proving to be highly transmittable. Hand-sanitiser will be available throughout the morning and face coverings will be required whilst moving around inside the hall.

St Nicholas Mothers Union It is with an element of sadness that the existing members of our MU have collectively decided that the time has come to ‘disband’. Over the years many of you and many before you, have worked hard as members of what is an international Christian movement, upholding Christ’s teaching on the nature of marriage and family life. We are sincerely grateful for all who have served in and through the Mothers Union and hope that the Thursday Coffee Morning might be a place for you to continue to have a catch up from time to time.

Baptism of Christ - Today we, along with Christians throughout the world will retell the story of Christ’s baptism. Why would Christ need to be baptised? What is its significance? John was already “proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.” He was baptizing people in the Jordan River “in great numbers” as they “confessed their sins.” However, Jesus was sinless! But he had in a sense, taken on the sin of the human race at his incarnation i.e., when he became a man “for our salvation,” as we say in the Creed. With his baptism, he began his public life. He dedicated his life to serving humanity, restoring the poor to a place of honour and dignity, rehabilitating those on the fringes of social life and relationship. He accepted “his mission as God’s suffering servant,” allowing “himself to be numbered among sinners.” We and all baptised believers are called to mirror Christ’s mission and ministry in the places we are set…and beyond.

100+ Club - Winners last week were Shirley Kershaw, Derek Warrington and Christopher Ashworth

Please remember in your prayers – Fr Ron, Rev Jane, Heather, Eddie Gillon, Baby Milly & Gillian King. And also, the family of Nora Jefferson whose funeral is due to take place.
