Coronavirus Update

It is good news to see that the R rate in the North West is now the lowest in the country at a range of 0.6 to 0.9. The latest figures for Wyre report just 11 cases per 100,000 against an average in England of 18. After such a long period when rates have been intractably high, this is good news. Generally however things have plateaued in terms of our management of the pandemic with no further news on issues such as face coverings, social distancing, refreshments after services and (perhaps most frustratingly) the reintroduction of congregational singing. That said, we have much to give thanks for. We are able to come together in church and via Zoom to worship. There is much that goes on behind to scenes to keep everyone safe and we are sincerely grateful to those who sanitise the church after every service.

As we acknowledge our own position our hearts and prayers go out to our brothers and sisters in India where a further wave of the virus is having a devastating effect. Hospitals are at breaking point and there is a critical shortage of life saving oxygen.

Let us join in prayer: Almighty and merciful Father, who shows your love to all your creation.

We come before you asking for a quick control of the Coronavirus currently ravaging India.

Hear graciously the prayers we make for those affected by the virus.

Grant healing to the sick, eternal life to the dead and consolation to the bereaved families.

We pray that an effective solution to the lack of oxygen be speedily found.

We pray for the government and health authorities to take appropriate steps for the good of the people. And we pray for the doctors and nurses risking their own lives to care for others.

Father God, look upon us in your mercy and forgive us our failings. Amen.

Please continue to pray …… for Alan Mather, Elsie, Nigel, Kenneth Binks, Margaret, Jane, Tom Boyd, Linda Edwards and Mandy Barling. Please also remember the family of babies Abel and Arlo whose funeral will take place this week.
