Lent Study: Bishop Philip’s five-week study began last Wednesday. Thirty-eight of us met at 4.30 pm in the Broadway Hall. Using Hannah as an example we were asked to consider the health of our personal prayer life. Bishop Philip shared four different ways of praying, but above all he stressed that it is important to have a structure to our personal prayer, giving time simply and solely to the Lord; dedicated time, carved out for God, when all we do is pray. Quoting Matthew 6 ‘Whenever you pray go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you,’ Bishop Philip reminded us that what the Lord offers us is a personal relationship, a genuine friendship. And that is fed above all by deep, heartfelt and honest prayer – “just you and God and no one else.” So, if you are seeking to improve your prayer life and your relationship with God do come along this coming Wednesday at 4.30 pm for session 2. Everyone is welcome. If you are not able to attend, you may wish to watch Bishop Philip’s talk on the Diocesan YouTube channel instead.
Easter Lilies: On Easter Day it is our tradition to fill the church with Easter lilies. To help with the cost of these, you are invited to make a donation in memory of a loved one, whose name will be added to a ‘remembrance roll’ and displayed in church. Please place you donation and loved one’s name in an envelope and deposit it in the box at the back of church.
Church Keys: We are required for insurance purposes to have a record of all key holders within the church. If you have any keys, either for church or the Broadway rooms please annotate the record card at the back of church. If you have keys belonging to the church that you no longer use, then please hand them back to the Vicar or one of the Churchwardens as soon as possible. Many thanks.
Please also remember in your prayers: Martyn Westby, Brian Brown, Louise Gorley, Mark Price, Michael Carthy, Paul Sumner, Sandra Pratt, Michael, Chris Kelsall, Tracey Ashworth, Philip Wayman, Primrose, Chris Cousins and Baby Miles Butterworth. We also remember the families of Charles Meehan, Joyce Walker, Jean Stephenson and Samuel Hutcheon whose funerals are due to take place.
