Confirmation 5 pm tonight: It’s finally arrived. Tonight, we will be welcoming Bishop Jill back to St Nic’s to confirm our 16 candidates who have been diligently preparing for this moment for the last six weeks. In the service the candidates will reaffirm their baptismal promises and make a public commitment to continuing on their journey of faith. It's a great moment for the candidates to acknowledge their place not just in St Nic’s but also in the worldwide church. In turn, as a church we will promise to support and pray for them. So please pray for, Ronan, Victoria, David B, Christine, Angela, Charles, Amy, David D, Graham, Laura, Lee, Stephen, Brian, Kerry, Corey and Carolyn.

                             Almighty and ever-living God, you have given these your servants new birth

                                 in baptism by water and the Spirit and have forgiven them all their sins.

                                                           Let your Holy Spirit rest upon them:

                   the Spirit of wisdom and understanding; the Spirit of counsel and inward strength;

                                                       the Spirit of knowledge and true godliness;

                                                and let their delight be in the fear of the Lord. Amen

Good news!! We’ve been busy working hard behind the scenes applying for grants to help us with the tower repairs, the cost of which now stands at £155,000 including VAT. This week we have been allocated grants of £6,500 by Benefact Trust and £15,000 by Congregational & General Charitable Trust. We are over the moon to have received these generous gifts. There is another application which will submitted to Listed Places of Worship and this scheme will refund £25,000 VAT on the project. We’ve still got a bit to go, but these grants along with the amazing generosity of other donors is spurring us on towards the finish line! In faith, we have scheduled work to begin w/c 21st April.

Lent Study: Bishop Philip’s five-week study begins this Wednesday at 4.30 pm in the Broadway Hall. The title this year is “Hear our Prayer” and we will be examining the prayer lives of five Old Testament figures who prayed, how that relates to the prayer life of Jesus and by doing so, think about our own prayer lives. Everyone is welcome. Refreshments on arrival.

Please also remember in your prayers: Martyn Westby, Brian Brown, Louise Gorley, Mark Price, Michael Carthy, Paul Sumner, Sandra Pratt, Michael, Chris Kelsall, Tracey Ashworth, Philip Wayman, Primrose, Chris Cousins and Baby Miles Butterworth. We also remember the families of Charles Meehan, Eunice Myerscough, Joyce Walker and Samuel Hutcheon whose funerals are due to take place.
