Godspeed Phil & Janet: Today we say farewell to Phil and Janet Deegan who are moving permanently to Glasgow. Phil came on placement to St Nic’s on Advent Sunday 2020. It was a placement that was due to end after Easter in 2021, but he liked us so much and we liked him that we arranged for an official transfer from Poulton to Fleetwood.

It really has been a joy and a massive help having Phil and Janet on our leadership team. Despite Phil working in Glasgow Monday to Friday, he has been able to exercise a full ministry here as a Lay Minister, by which we have been blessed and nourished. Janet was given the unenviable task of setting up ‘Safeguarding’ at St Nic’s, whilst managing a full-time position with the Home Office. Together they introduced Messy Church to St Nic’s; yesterday being another amazing gathering of families from around Fleetwood who came to play, learn about Jesus and eat together.

We will be forever indebted to both Phil and Janet for the contribution they have made while being a part of our church family.  Though we will miss them, we send them off with the words of St Paul:

“We know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” (Rom 8:28).   With our grateful thanks xx

Saturday December 14th: “Carols in the Courtyard” (Church car park), followed by mulled wine, a hot meal, mince pies and coffee in the Broadway Rooms. For catering purposes, please sign up at the back of church. We are hoping to cover our costs and maybe even raise a bit for the Tower Fund too, so we are suggesting a donation of about £8 per head.

Please remember in your prayers: Archdeacon Mark Ireland, Jeff Chambers, Alf Fowler, Katie, Brian Brown, Mark Price, Debbie, Michael Carthy, Rev Jane Everett, Paul Sumner, Sandra Pratt, Michael, Chris Kelsall, Brian Morris, Ben and Ruth Green, and Elaine Clarke. And we remember Maurice Larsen and Jane Bedford and their families as their funeral arrangements are being made.
