Yesterday, Karen, June and the Vicar attended Blackburn Cathedral for Karen’s relicensing as an Authorised Lay Minister. It was a joyful occasion as we celebrated the sending out of almost 100 Lay Ministers into the towns and villages of Blackburn Diocese. We are so grateful that Karen is ours!!
Harvest 2024: We will be celebrating our harvest festival on Sunday 13th October (5 weeks today)! There will be our usual services followed by a Jacob’s Join lunch and auction in the Broadway Rooms. If you are able to donate items of chocolate, wines, spirits, household goods etc they will be made up into hampers to be auctioned on the day. The money raised will be sent to the Bishop’s Harvest appeal, (details to follow). Tinned and dried foods collected will be donated to Streetlife, a homeless charity for young people in Blackpool. Harvest donations can be delivered to the Vicar’s Vestry, where they will be received with grateful thanks.
Fr Alf Hayes: Is retiring and has invited those who wish to join him for his final Mass at St Wulstan’s this coming Friday night.
Christmas Planning: Our Christmas raffle is a big part of our Christmas Fair and the tickets are now available. This year we are asking everyone to take 4 books of raffle tickets and try to sell them to family and friends. Let’s all make a special effort to sell as many as we can as this is a super way for people outside of the church to support the ongoing ministry of St Nic’s.
100 Club Winners: Congratulations to Laura Martin, Lindsey Newton, Linda Cawley, Elizabeth Leeson, Ruth Aspinall, Bernice Meekins, Judith Crosby, Sandra Fowler, Muriel Freestone, Dorothy Angel, Ethel Chantler, Berny McCarthy, Stephen Ward, Jack Sillis, Alan Newton, David Meekins, Raymond Hollebone and Gordon Roberts, who were all winners in the month of August. Thank you for supporting St Nic’s in this way. You’ve got to be in it to win it! See Ruth if you’d like to join in.
Please remember in your prayers: Jeff Chambers, Katie, Brian Brown, Mark Price, Debbie, Michael Carthy, Rev Jane Everett, Paul Sumner, Sandra Pratt, Michael, John McLellan, Karen, David Richardson and Elaine Clarke. And we remember the families of, Alan Rigby, Bert Campbell and Nena White whose funerals are due to take place.
