Today at 10:45: It’s lovely to welcome the Roskell family for Rosie’s christening this morning. Paul and Rebecca were married at St Nic’s in July 2022. It’s also good to welcome back Rev’d Kathryn Sperring who will be preaching at all our services today and presiding at 10.45. Kathryn was priested in July this year and is serving her title at St John’s Little Thornton.
Daily Prayer: Just a reminder that the daily offices will be prayed at the times and locations listed above and you are welcome to join the clergy in making it part of your own discipline. Please download the Daily Prayer app on your tablet or smart phone if you are able.
Paralympics: Just as the team in Paris was putting the finishing touches to the opening ceremony in Paris, here in the UK the national news bulletins were reporting the disgraceful experience suffered by Dame Tanni Grey-Thomson as she arrived by train into London’s Kings Cross Station. Tanni, winner of 11 Paralympic gold medals was on her way to the Games when she was forced to drag herself off the train, after first throwing her belongings onto the platform. As the eyes of the world are on the games in Paris, it is another reminder of the power of sport to address critical issues in the world today. The Bible gives many examples of God’s heart for the marginalised in society. Events such as the Paralympics, reflect the values of God’s Kingdom. God is a God who gives value, worth and dignity to every human being. He is the one who gives us purpose, meaning and fulfilment, who looks at us and sees the vast potential within us. He delights over each and every one of us.
“Lord, make us channels of your love for every human being.”
Please remember in your prayers: Jeff Chambers, Katie, Mark Price, Debbie, Michael Carthy, Rev Jane Everett, Paul Sumner, Sandra Pratt, Michael, John McLellan, Karen, Muriel Freestone, David Richardson and Elaine Clarke. And we remember the families of, Catherine Goldspink, Brenda Shewan, Alan Rigby and Norma Grainger whose funerals are due to take place.
