Saturday 7th December: Is the date of this year’s Christmas Fare. It may seem a bit early to ask you to save the date but the planning and organising has already started. As in previous years we have offered stalls to members of the community, we’ve invited Harmony & Health and Santa will be paying a visit too. If you are interested in having a stall please be in touch with David and Joanne Ashworth as soon as possible. A meeting for volunteers who are able and willing to help, leading up to the Fare and on the day itself will take place in September.
The money we raise helps, but it’s the working together as a team and opening our doors to the community that makes this type of event worth doing. Teams always work better when someone is prepared to take overall ownership and make the hard decisions. We are grateful to Joanne and David for agreeing to take the lead again this year.
John Chapter 6: Today is the 5th and final week we will spend in this chapter of John’s gospel. One chapter 71 verses. Jesus declared Himself the ‘bread of life.” We’ve covered so much ground it’s not really possible to summarise our journey in just one short paragraph. But, perhaps now is a good time to go back and read chapter 6 yourself and at your own pace. Expect something that you read to strike you in some way even in a profound way. Read it a few times then spend some time in prayer, meditating on what you have read. Even more important than reading the chapter is the opportunity to spend some quality time with Jesus.
“Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and are convinced that you are the Holy One of God.” Jn 6:68–69
Please remember in your prayers: Jeff Chambers, Katie, Mark Price, Debbie, Michael Carthy, Rev Jane Everett, Paul Sumner, Sandra Pratt, Michael, John McLellan, June Larkin, Muriel Freestone and David Richardson and Elaine Clarke. And we remember the families of Jacqui Bidle, Catherine Goldspink, Brenda Shewan, Alan Rigby and Norma Grainger whose funerals are due to take place.
