Sea Sunday: Every year churches around the world celebrate Sea Sunday. It's a day for people to come together to pray for seafarers and fishers who live and work at sea and thank them for the vital role they play in all of our lives. We are delighted to welcome Pastor George Ayoma as our preacher and several dignitaries from Fleetwood and Wyre.
Be with Seafarers, Lord, on all their voyages, to cheer them and keep them safe in all dangers.
Let nothing afloat or on shore cut them off from you. May they please you in everything they do.
Bless all on board their ship, whatever their responsibility. Enable everyone to do their duty.
Help them to be good shipmates and bring them back again safely to their homes
and to those who long for their return, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen
This Friday: Some of us from St Nic’s will be joining the coach loads from Blackburn Diocese travelling to York Minster for the consecration of Rev Dr Joe Kennedy as Bishop of Burnley. Joe is a priest with broad experience of both chaplaincy and teaching, as well as in the ministering and leading of others to help God’s church to grow. Please do remember Joe and his family in your prayers as they begin this new chapter in their lives and in the life of the Diocese.
Almighty God,
the light of the faithful and shepherd of souls,
who set your servant Joe to be a bishop in the Church,
to feed your sheep by the word of Christ and to guide them by good example:
give us grace to keep the faith of the Church and to follow in the footsteps
of Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen
Please remember in your prayers: Jeff Chambers, Katie, Louise Clark, Mark Price, Debbie, Michael Carthy, Rev Jane Everett, Paul Sumner, Sandra Pratt, Tom, Michael, John McLellan, June Larkin and David Richardson. Please also remember the families and friends of Paul Mellor whose funeral is due to take place.
