Christian Aid Week 12th- 18th May: This year, Christian Aid Week will focus on the poverty in the communities of Burundi. Over 70% of people in Burundi face hunger and poverty every single day. Finding work and food is a constant battle, and even those with a roof over their heads often lack necessities like electricity and clean water. Please see our website for ‘Aline’s Story’ which brings to life the abject poverty that so many families like Aline’s have to navigate on a daily basis. If you are able to donate to this annual appeal by Christian Aid there are envelopes at the back of Church and we’ll be sure to pass your donation on. Alternatively, you can donate online at www.christianaid.org.uk
Loving God, this week we pray especially for the work of Christian Aid and we thank you
for all the people who work for this charity. Help them and us to make our world
a better place. We pray for justice, peace and an end to poverty. Help us to see when things are
unfair in our world. In our daily lives, help us to think ‘What would Jesus Do?’
Help us to have the courage to stand up for what we know to be right. Amen
Men’s Brunch: David Devereux has been part of this year’s M:Power cohort and is hosting a ‘Men’s Brunch’ this coming Saturday in the Broadway Rooms. Apart from an amazing breakfast, David will share something of his journey to faith with those who gather. There is not cost involved, so if you are male and would like to come along, or if you have a male at home who you would like to send, please sign up at the back of church today.
Annual Parochial Church Meeting: This is an important annual event in the life of St Nic’s and we hope as many of the church family will be able to attend on Tuesday 14th May, in Church at 7.00 pm. There will be drinks and nibbles on arrival, worship, good news stories and of course the legal bits too!
Please remember in your prayers: Katie, Barbara Sharocks, Tony Ryan, Louise Clark, Mark Price, Alan Morris, Dean, Rev Jane Everett, Paul Sumner, Norman Higgins, John McLellan and Chris Shuttleworth. Please also remember the families and friends of Baby Austin Taylor, Susan Cross and Eileen Fitzgerald whose funerals are due to take place.
