Christmas Fair: Final preparations are being made this week for our Fair on Saturday. Thank you to everyone who has donated gifts, sold raffle tickets and worked so hard behind the scenes to make it happen. If you are gifted in the baking department, then the cake stall will be thrilled to receive any home-made items for sale on the day.

Christmas Brings Hope: This year we have had 1000 Christmas cards printed with details of all the events and Christmas services taking place at St Nic’s. We want to hand deliver a card to each house on the most local roads/streets. If you are able and willing to help us with this, please pick up a bundle from the back of church today and deliver them to the location indicated, this week before the Fair on Saturday. Please personally invite anyone you happen to speak to.

Saddleworth Brass Band: On Saturday 9th December we’re delighted to be hosting ‘Carols in the Courtyard’ again. The event will start at 11 am with Christmas Carols outside church. We will then move into the Broadway rooms for mulled wine and lunch, followed by a concert by the Band. Please do invite your neighbours and friends to join you at this quality event. Sign up at the back of church for catering purposes. There is no charge for lunch but donations will be accepted.

Christmas Wishes: Do you find writing Christmas cards to folk you see most weeks at church laborious and expensive? More and more people are opting to make a donation to charity or to church instead of sending cards. If you would like to send a Christmas message to everyone at church rather than sending cards then your name and message will be printed with the notice sheet on 17th December. Please liaise with the Vicar if you wish your message to be included in this way.

Lord Jesus, Master of both the light and the darkness, send your Holy Spirit upon our preparations for Christmas. We who have so much to do, seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day,

We who are anxious over many things look forward to your coming among us.

We who are blessed in so many ways long for the complete joy of your kingdom.

We whose hearts are heavy seek the joy of your presence.

We are your people, walking in darkness, yet seeking the light. To you we say, "Come Lord Jesus!'

- Henri J.M. Nouwen

Please remember in your prayers: Louise Clark, David Newton, Peter Dell, Rev Martin Keighley, Mark Price, Rebekah, Lee Schofield and Craig Abson. And Elizabeth King’s family as they prepare for her funeral, (date still to be confirmed).
