Hospital Chaplaincy: We are delighted to welcome Rev’d Clive Lord to St Nic’s today. Clive is an NHS Chaplain and works between Victoria Hospital and Clifton Rehab. He will be sharing his story and talking about the importance of ministry to the sick and dying at all of our services, including Zoom!

The prayer of St Teressa of Avila (1515–1582)

Christ has no body but yours, no hands, no feet on earth but

yours. Yours are the eyes with which he looks compassionately

on this world. Yours are the feet with which he walks to do

good. Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.

Congregational Questionnaire: There’s still a chance for you to take part in this quick exercise, whether you attend church regularly or not so regularly, on Zoom or in person! Please pick up a survey today and return it to the box at the back of church by next Sunday.

Harvest festival: This year our Harvest celebrations will begin with a Messy Church on Saturday 14th October and on Sunday 15th we will have our usual services followed by a Jacob’s Join lunch and auction in the Broadway Rooms. If you are able to donate items of chocolate, wines, spirits, household goods etc. they will be made up into hampers to be auctioned on the day. The money raised will be sent to the Bishop’s Harvest appeal, (details to follow). Tinned and dried foods collected will be donated to Streetlife, a homeless charity for young people in Blackpool. Harvest donations can be delivered to the Vicar’s Vestry, where they will be received with grateful thanks.

Christmas Planning: Thank you to everyone who has offered to be involved and help with our Christmas Fair on 25th November. Our Christmas raffle is a big part of this event and the tickets are now available. This year we are asking everyone on the electoral roll to take 5 books of raffle tickets and try to sell them to family and friends. If you’re not on the electoral roll, we’ll get some tickets to you as well. Let’s all make a special effort to sell as many as we can as this is a super way for people outside of the church to support the ongoing ministry of St Nic’s.

Please also remember in your prayers: Peter Dell, Rev Jane Everitt, Jo Crosswell, Rev Martin Keighley, John Richardson, Elizabeth King, Chris Kelsall, Michaela Jones, Mark Price, Rebekah, Colin Cook, Keith Shaw, Craig Abson and John Hawley. And the family of John Hurst whose funeral is due to take place.
