Today: Sunday 23rd April at 3 pm there will be a national test of the UK’s new Emergency Alerts system. The test alert will be sent to most mobile phones across the UK. Devices will make a distinct, siren-like sound for up to 10 seconds, including on phones switched to silent mode. No action needs to be taken before or after the test.

Electoral Roll: If you have been attending St Nic’s for at least the last six months and you are baptised and over the age of 16 then you are eligible to have your name entered on the electoral roll of the church. By registering you will be entitled to attend the annual parochial church meeting (APCM) which is to be held on Tuesday 30th May at 7.00 pm and to take part in its proceedings. The forms are at the back of church and once completed should be deposited in the box provided. Please attend to this no later than 14th May.

The Parochial Church Council (PCC): is the executive committee of the church and consists of the Vicar and churchwardens of the parish, together with representatives of the laity. It is a corporate charitable body. Legally the council is responsible for the financial affairs of the church and the maintenance of its assets. It also assists the Vicar in the management of church affairs in the parish, and promoting the mission of the church. A new PCC will be formed at the APCM at the end of May and we are keen to encourage some new members. We meet six times a year, so it’s not onerous, but just requires you to be passionate about the future of St Nic’s. Please approach the Vicar if you feel you could serve the parish in this way.

Please also remember in your prayers: Rev Jane Everitt, Rev Martin Keighley, Elizabeth King, Chris Kelsall, Michaela Jones, Mark Price, Lee Schofield, Grantham Fidler, Tony Hardman, John Hawley & Peter Hollier. And the families of Marjorie Kenwright, Jean Ward, Elizabeth Mustard and Sarah Entwistle whose funerals are due to take place.
