This morning, we reflected on how Mary of Bethany anointed Jesus with the costly perfume. She knew that Jesus was worth worshipping with all she had, she offered Christ public worship, pure devotion and sacrificial love. Is the fragrance of our devotion to Christ as obvious as Mary's?Thinking of the perfume she anointed Jesus with, the children had to guess what some different smells were. Then Freddie very kindly let the younger children wrap him in toilet roll like the grave clothes of Jeus. We thought about how Mary's anointing symbolised Jesus was a king and was to die for us.
Thank you to everyone who kindly helped us today at our first churchyard working party of the year. We tidied up and then enjoyed hotdogs.
At our Worship4U service today, we celebrated The Presentation of Jesus in the Temple, or Candlemas, as it's also known. We played a team game to help us think about sharing. We also shared light with candles. Then we reflected on how love and light, when shared, both grow, and thought about how we can share God's love and Jesus the light of the world.Thank you to our children from Freckleton C of E Primary School, who shared prayers, written by Year 4, and taught the congregation our new school prayer and actions to it.
Today is the patronal festival of St Paul's, Warton, commemorating the Conversion of St Paul. After our morning services, we had a delicious celebratory lunch at Rigby's Farmhouse Restaurant.
