The Blue Flamingo Cafe and Community Hub was established in November 2021 in response to the need in our community to help those living with dementia and their carers. The cafe is led by Erin Singleton and is supported by 12 passionate volunteers. The Blue Flamingo offers two Sing-Along sessions, a Quiet Activities session, and a Carer's Support Circle every month, in addition to occasional day trips. Collaborations have been established with local artists and other local charity organisations, such as Dig In, to provide workshops and creative experiences for its members.
Music is regularly offered, as are games and activities. Preston Community Transport provides transport for some people who would otherwise be unable to attend the cafe. Links have been made with Lancashire County Council, Alzheimer's Society, Age Concern, AgeUK Lancashire, Lancashire Carers Service and Lancashire Dementia. Programmes are partially funded by Lancashire County Council and Age Concern.
Community is at the heart of all the activities offered by The Blue Flamingo and everyone who visits receives a warm, heartfelt welcome. There is no need to book in advance, just pop along.
