Ladies, if you have Thursday afternoons free, then the Ladies Fellowship and Friendship Group could be just the place for you!
Who are the Ladies Fellowship and Friendship Group?
We are a group of ordinary local women who love to meet up to share with, and support, each other. Over 25 ladies come regularly every Thursday and there’s always room for more – we’ve plenty of cups and chairs! And it’s a big room!
When do we meet?
We meet on Thursdays from 2.00pm to 4.00pm.
The Ladies' Fellowship hosts the first 2 Thursdays, and the Ladies' Friendship Group hosts the rest.
Where do we meet?
We meet in the ground floor room of St Mary’s Church Hall that can be accessed via the Mayfield Avenue or Lytham Road entrances. The Lytham Road entrance has a small carpark but there is usually street parking available on the Mayfield Avenue. If you’re coming by public transport, the number 11 Lytham or 68 Preston buses have stops at South Shore Hospital which is only a few minutes’ walk away.
Ladies Fellowship - what do we do?
Usually, we’re seated in a circle and one of our leaders will welcome everyone, give a short introduction to what we’re doing, give out any notices and updates, then introduce our speaker (if it’s week 1) or an activity (if it’s week 2). This is followed by tea, coffee and some biscuity treats! If there’s time left at the end, sometimes we have a raffle, but 2 hours just fly by!
Our programme is a rotating one. On the 1st week we have an interesting local speaker. Over the years the topics have ranged from pageants to travels and from pets to big houses! So, there’s bound to be something that will capture your interest.
Week 2 is a more relaxed social time where we simply enjoy each other’s company, chatting and catching up on each other’s news.
What else do we do?
We also like having the opportunity to help others. Over the years we have raised funds for different charities, both international ones e.g. sponsoring a child and local ones e.g. Blackpool Young Carers. We have also enjoyed raising money for St Mary’s Church. When the fire escape to the upper room in the church hall needed to be replaced, our ladies stepped up to the challenge!
Ladies Friendship Group - what do we do?
On the 3rd, 4th and even 5th Thursday of each month, you’ll find us in the church hall sitting around in our usual horseshoe. We start off with tea and coffee accompanied by some rather nice biscuits and some of our ladies bake excellent homemade cakes for us too!
We don’t have a formal programme; instead, we focus on the social side. We enjoy catching up with each other’s lives and joining in with a range of activities such as Bingo and Beetle Drive (only stationary… well, we don’t want to spill our tea do we?). All of us love doing quizzes but without the hard questions - nothing cryptic here!
Our group is open to women who want to make and
build up friendships, enjoy some good company and have fun and a laugh in a
warm relaxed atmosphere.
What else do we do?
Occasionally, we have some additional activities like a summer dance or carol singing at Christmas. The most important thing for us is that everyone feels at home and we can all join in.
Now you've read about us - why not join us?
If you’re over 18 and want to make new friends and have a laugh, the warm welcoming space of the Ladies Fellowship and Friendship Group is for you.
