Candlemas

Address
St Anne's Church Wheatley Lane Road Fence, BB12 9EE, United Kingdom

Sunday 2nd February is Candlemas. It is also called ‘Presentation of the Lord’ or ‘Presentation of Christ in the Temple’

On Candlemas it is a tradition for Christians to bring their candles to their local church, where they are blessed and then used for the rest of the year. These blessed candles serve as a symbol of Jesus Christ, who is the Light of the World.

If you are attending church, you are invited to bring one candle from your home, perhaps the one you use for private prayer, and it will be blessed.

As you leave church next Sunday, you will be given a lighted candle, a symbol, taking the Light and Love of Jesus Christ with you and to others.

Welcome to St Anne's church, Fence -in -Pendle. We sit in the heart of Pendleside and we have a heart for Jesus!  We welcome all to our church and to all our events held at The Refectory. At St. Anne's we are apart of ‘Inclusive Church’ network. We believe an inclusive church celebrates and affirms every person and does not discriminate.
