As we approach the centenary year of our Diocese (2026) the Bishop of Blackburn is inviting parishes to make 2025 a Year of Prayer for Growth and Renewal across the Diocese. The intention for this year is for parishes to pray for new and deeper disciples for Jesus Christ. Be joyful always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 We are invited to do three things: 1. Pray together the ‘Prayer for growth and renewal’ prayer (found in our prayer notices) in meetings, services and personal prayer rhythms. 2. Set up a weekly half hour service or time of prayer with a specific focus on praying for growth and renewal. 3. Pray around our parish or community (Prayer Walks etc.) As the year progresses there will be activities and events in each of our churches. Full information will be in the Newsletters. Please support these as best you can - please include the prayer for growth and renewal, found earlier in this newsletter, in your personal prayers.
As we pray for growth in our Diocese and in our churches, we now include parishes across our Diocese. Our prayers will now include prayers for the Diocesan overseas links: The Diocese of the Free State, Liwolo, Multan and the Lutheran Church in Braunschweig. Please continue to pray for peace in Ukraine and Gaza. Please pray for…Our churches - St John’s and St Anne’s: pray for growth and renewal in both our congregations and within the communities we serve. If you wish to see the full list of who we are praying for this week, please see our Weekly Newsletter.
