About Us
St James' is a church in the Liberal Catholic Tradition of the Church of England and focused on the Eucharist. All are most welcome to all our services. We strive forward on our journey with God, going boldly where he leads us and seeking to spread the good news of His Son. Faith is the final frontier and we seek out new souls for Christ. In the power of the Spirit we hope to bring the Love of God to our community.
We have thriving Sunday School and uniformed organisations which welcome enquiries via the Church Wardens. We also have a large Parent and Toddler group which meets each Tuesday morning during term time. We also have a branch of the Mother's Union, an altar guild, servers, a choir, bell ringers and many other organisations which would welcome enquiries.
There is a vestry hour on a Monday Evening at 6.00pm for the booking of Baptisms and Weddings. We do all we can to welcome all those who enquire of us for Baptism. We provide a wider wedding welcome. Please used the ramped entrance to Church for Vestry Hour.
The Parish began in the Parish School in 1770 and the Church was built in 1855 and is a grade II listed building with a spire which is visible from all the surrounding area.
